The City shall select, designate and contract with one ambulance operator to provide emergency medical services provided pursuant to CVMC 5.10.310. This shall be provided in compliance with state law, including Emergency Medical Services System and Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Care Personnel Act (California Health and Safety Code Section 1797 et seq.), and/or any related or successor legislation. Any and all ambulance operators not so selected and designated are hereby prohibited from engaging in such emergency work; provided, however, that the patient involved in an emergency situation may designate any ambulance service to be called if said service is operating within the City pursuant to the permits required by this chapter.
