A. Title. This chapter shall be known as the Chula Vista Residential Tenant Protection Ordinance and may be referred to herein as the Residential Tenant Protection Ordinance.

B. Purpose. Subject to the provisions of applicable law, the purpose of the Residential Tenant Protection Ordinance is to require just cause for termination of residential tenancies consistent with Civil Code Section 1946.2, to further limit the reasons for termination of a residential tenancy, to require greater tenant relocation assistance in specified circumstances, and to provide additional tenant protections. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as to prevent the lawful eviction of a tenant by appropriate legal means. (Ord. 3527 § 2, 2022).
